My name is Lynn Baillie and I am a Master Practitioner in Reiki Tummo and a Master Teacher in Usui Reiki. I have a BSc in Mathematics and my career has been in the legal and compliance department of financial institutions and investment dealers and brokerages. After having a life altering injury to my eyes that ended my career, I began my healing journey and found the realm of energy healing. I discovered a world full of peace, love, joy, and abundance and I would like to share with you through my writing how I did that.

Have you ever pushed yourself so hard that a physical part of you shut down due to the overload? This happened to me back in the end of 2016. I knew something was wrong in September but I couldn’t see my eye doctor until late December. When I finally saw my eye doctor she told me that my eyes were not responding to the prisms in my reading glasses that corrected my line of sight. These prisms helped me read and without them my eyes read 2 lines simultaneously making the words move around and difficult to pull together. My eye doctor referred me to an optometrist who specializes in vision therapy and I saw her the following February. I also pinched the ulnar nerve in my neck from tilting my head back to help my failing vision and that took away the use of my right arm. Four months of osteopathy visits, thankfully, brought that back.

In February of 2017, I saw the vision specialist and was diagnosed with a bunch of things but they basically meant muscle failure in my eyes for up close vision and this prevented me from doing my job. I was off for a year with vision therapy and then tried to work again in 2018 only to have to go on leave again seven months later with even more damage to my eyes. I was devastated.

My career has been in the legal and compliance department of a financial institutions and my eyes working properly was kind of important. This issue with my eyes was absolutely terrifying. I had no idea what I could do for work since everything in my wheelhouse required my vision to be in working order. It was time to look inward and figure my future out.

While off on long term disability leave I took some Reiki courses. They required some reading but not intensive so it was manageable. Most of the classes were presented with slides and conversation which helped take the strain off of my eyes. What I learned was phenomenal! The realm of energy healing had captured my attention! My healing journey began and over the following 3 years I healed myself a great deal.

I obtained Master level teacher in Usui Reiki, Master Practitioner in Reiki Tummo, and a few other courses that include Meditation, Kundalini, Open Heart, Secrets of Natural Walking, and Secrets of Natural Healing. Each of the courses had information that enabled me to look inward and heal at the soul level. I read Ho’oponopono, The Hawaiian forgiveness ritual as the key to your life’s fulfilment, by Ulrich E Duprée, and in it he mentions that cause is in the spiritual realm and effect is in the material realm. Healing our soul leads to healing our body and the soul must be healed before the physical body can heal. This concept really appealed to me so I researched it further and discovered how true this really is. I applied this method of working on healing daily and over time I was able to repair my shattered soul. I finally felt peace and wholeness. It really worked!!! I am still a work in progress but almost all of my physical pain related to my fibromyalgia has subsided.

In addition to the Reiki courses, I also signed up for lessons in other modalities of energy healing, did some research in related quantum physics, learned some very useful meditations, and learned of some incredible healing journeys of others with life threatening diseases. Imagine taking all of this information that I had absorbed over the years and applied it to myself. The benefits are incredible if you find the right recipe that works for you. I have healed a great deal in myself and have found the peace that I so longed for. I learned to love myself with all of my flaws and move forward with an unconditional, compassionate, and loving perspective towards everything.

I knew I was meant to do something with everything I learned over these past few years and not just use it on myself. This information cannot be kept a secret or only available to those who can afford to take the expensive courses. I had a really deep intuitive feeling that I needed to share this information.

When Covid19 hit it kicked everyone into a very negative energy cycle. When I thought about the law of attraction combined with this negative energy everyone was putting out, I realized I had to do something about it. I knew I had something to share that could help anyone willing to hear my message. I wasn’t working because my eyes were still not strong enough for fulltime high caliber function in the financial industry so I had time to draft a plan related to how to help people break out of that negativity. I took everything I learned and wrote a book. Breaking Out of the Darkness was the result of that effort. The book is about breaking out of negative energy cycles and is full of interesting and useful information, quantum physics, stories of successful healing journeys, meditations, and steps outlined that you can take to help you heal.

I found my new purpose through my healing journey – I wanted to help as many people as possible heal from their past traumas and I found a way.

It’s never too late to start your healing journey…

Start today!

Be Brave!

Be Authentic!

Be Your Best You!

What will you do first on your healing journey?

Recommended Reading…Make Your Bed

November 14, 2018– We read a lot of books around here at Pandamonium Publishing House, as we should because we are writers. I’m a firm believer that the more you read, the better you write.  We like to read all types of books including books that aren’t always in our genre. I’m currently reading an interesting and pretty short book that’s non-fiction and it’s written by Admiral William H. McRaven (talk about a cool name) who is retired from the United States Navy. The book is called, Make Your Bed, Little things that can change your life…and maybe the world.

Admiral McRaven gave a commencement speech to the University of Texas students, which you can view on Youtube. His school of thinking is that if you make your bed every morning, you’ll have accomplished the first task of your day. He also believes that making your bed reinforces the fact that the little things in life matter and if you can’t do the little things right, you will never do the big things right.

This is my second time reading this book in a year. I read it at the beginning of the year and I’m re-reading it now. This book is fantastic because McRaven is right! I made my bed every single day except for four days over the past year and let me tell you, boy did it make a world of difference when I didn’t! When I neglected to make my bed, I went to bed restless, had a terrible sleep, couldn’t shut off my brain, and felt unsettled. That’s not to say that every day that I did make my bed was a great day, but the point was that no matter what life threw at me, I could come home, get into my perfectly made bed, and disappear from the world. Daily life requires structure and making your bed is the first step.

I hope that you’ll read this book as there are a lot of fantastic stories and lessons within. (My favourite chapter is number four, the sugar cookie story!)

All About Audiobooks…

November 9, 2018- Ahhhh, audiobooks. There is nothing better than an audiobook, other than a paperback of course. In fact, I pick paperback first, then audiobook, then e-book. So what are the benefits of audiobooks and what place do they have in the literary community?

  1. Audiobooks can bring the characters to life, especially when the voice actor is amazing. Let me use an example; if you’ve ever read the Stephanie Plum series, One for the Money and so on, by Janet Evanovich, you’ll know what I’m talking about. The actor who does the voices for the audiobooks, Lorelei King, is so amazing that she sounds exactly how you would expect Stephanie and Lula to sound like in real life. This can also be a downfall, however! All it takes is a bad voice actor to ruin your favourite book. Like the person who reads the Murder, She Wrote series. Umm…why the hell is Angela Lansbury, not the voice? Exactly.
  2. Audiobooks are perfect for people who are on the go. You can listen to audiobooks anywhere, on planes, trains, and in automobiles. They are totally portable and you don’t even need wifi to use them. I bribe myself with an audiobook when I have to do things that I hate…such as the treadmill, or running. I plug in my earphones, turn on my audiobook and forget what I’m doing as I’m immersed in the story. Using audiobooks, I was able to “read” 60 books last year. I wouldn’t have been able to do it if I didn’t have audiobooks to listen to while I traveled.
  3. Audiobooks make non-fiction books go faster. A lot of non-fiction books can be utterly boring, especially when they’re about something that you’re not particularly interested in such as sales or the stock market. You can speed up your audiobook, skip to the end, and listen to them while you’re doing the dishes or making dinner. I know that audiobooks are different than Ted Talks, but I put them in the same category. Ask me when I don’t have a Ted Talk on…not very often! I think that we can learn things by listening and I’ve amazed myself more than once with the information I’ve retained by listening to audiobooks.
  4. Audiobook are excellent for auditory learners. I am an auditory learner in that I learn best by listening and not doing or seeing something. I’ve always learned this way and let me tell you, that schools do not accommodate this way of learning which is a shame. I was the kid that read each question out loud while doing homework because that’s how I learned. There are a bunch of different ways that people learn; Kinesthetic learners are people who learn by doing rather than by listening to a presentation or by watching a demonstration. Visual learners are those who learn by seeing something such as a graph, chart, or diagram. And as mentioned before, auditory learners who learn things by hearing/listening. I can’t tell you how much information I’ve learned from audiobooks, but it’s a lot!

So, if you’ve never downloaded an audiobook because you think it might not be for you, I urge you to reconsider! Give it a try, you just might love it.

E-Books Vs. Print (Are Print Books a Dying Breed?)…

November 5, 2018- It really depends on the generation that you grew up in as to how you answer the question above! I personally think that e-books have their place in the world, but nothing beats a paperback.

I love e-books for specific things, especially non-fiction because quite rarely do I ever read a non-fiction book from cover to cover. I end up skimming the pages for the information I need, highlighting it, and then leaving with the info that I came for. It’s easy and free when you subscribe to something like Kindle unlimited.

That being said, nothing beats the smell of a paper book. The feeling of turning the pages, the sound of the pages turning, folding down the corner of the page to mark where you left off (I know, I’m a monster!), and the kinesthetic involvement of the entire experience is the absolute best. E-books don’t hold a candle to traditional paper in my opinion.

Now, I know what some of you are going to say, “But I love my Kindle for the portability of the books when I go on vacation!” Yes, I do too, but if I could bring along seven or eight of my favourite paperbacks without taking up too much room in my suitcase, I would.

Let’s look at some reasons why paperbacks are making a come back.

  1. Physical books make a better gift. When was the last time that you gifted someone an e-book? That’s what I thought, probably never. There’s something about the process of wading through a bookstore to find the perfect book for someone you love. They open the gift bag or tear off the wrapping paper and immediately flip the book over to read the back cover, then they thumb through the pages and tell you that they can’t wait to snuggle up and read it tonight!
  2. Physical books are easier to share. Yes, you can share e-books and lots of people do, but paperbacks are easily shared from reader to reader. Do you know how many times I’ve lent friends books never to see them again…the books not the friends. Yep, it’s true, paperbacks make their way into the hands of many people. My suggestion is that if you love a particular title, buy two of them because the one you lend will never return.
  3. Reading a print book sets a good example for your kids. We want kids to read, we want them to experience the magic of books, and we want them to use their imagination. What better way to get kids to read than to be caught reading, ourselves? Monkey see monkey do.
  4. Paper books are easy to scribble on. I know that some people are gasping in horror while reading this sentence. Yes, I mark important passages in books and I even scribble down thoughts in the margins. As an author, there are a lot of ideas that pop into my head while reading and sometimes a certain passage will speak to me. I highlight the words, underline sentences, and box off really important points.

So, which camp are you in? E-books or paperback? Sound off in the comments below!

How To: A quick and dirty guide to get the creative juices flowing!

June 1, 2018- We’ve all been there; we’re on our sixth cup of coffee, it’s two o’clock in the afternoon, and we’ve been staring at our blinking cursor on a blank page for almost an hour. The sound of our head thudding off our desk is the only sound except for the voice in our head that screams, “You’re a failure! You’re a no talent hack who can’t write!” And this is on a good day! Ok, maybe that’s just me. Nonetheless, we’ve all been stuck at one time or another while trying to write the next New York Times Best Seller. I want to arm you with some tools for your toolbox the next time you get stuck, so I’ll share with you my dirty little secrets for getting inspired!

  1. I change ANYTHING. Seriously. When I’m stuck creatively, I change anything that I possibly can. There were two weeks where I switched sides of the bed with my husband to see if I could get out of my creative writing rut and guess what? It worked! Why? Because any time you change up your perception, creativity happens! It’s true, sometimes the simplest switch in your routine is just the kick in the ass that you need. Also, try switching up your location, go to the mall, go for coffee, sit in nature for a while, do whatever it takes to get inspired.
  2. Read outside of your genre. If you’re writing non-fiction, read anything fiction based. If you are writing a thriller, read a romance, if you’re writing a romance, read a biography. Reading outside of your genre does two things to help your creativity, it expands your imagination, and it lets you take a much needed mental break. I write books that are psych thrillers, and sometimes I need a break from the genre so what do I do? I pick up the total opposite to read during my leisure. My choices have ranged from The Unauthorized Biography of Axl Rose to cozy romances, and everything in between. It works and lets me escape from the murders and dismemberments that I have created.
  3. Use writing prompts. The internet is full of writing prompts and my advice to you, if you’re stuck is to start writing ANYTHING. Scour the headlines for something that you can expand into a storyline, go on Pinterest and type in writing prompts and I can assure you that you’ll come up with something.  Re-write one of your favourite fairytales or movies to have a completely different ending! The important thing is to write and keep writing.

What tips do you have for other aspiring authors? What’s the best advice that you can offer them to get unstuck? Sound off in the comments below!
